The BasicCard should never be able to crash your PC operating system. The device driver of you smart card reader may crash your PC, but not the card. Anyhow, the card may cause your smart card reader driver to fail.

The BWI=9 is allowed by ISO7816 but not by EMV. Also it is not a very common value. So it may not be properly processed by all card readers. This may be the reason the reading of the ATR fails and the computer is crashed by the card reader device driver. The card itself is probably not damaged. If you have a BasicCard development kit try to use the included card reader if not try another card reader. Change the BWI setting to 4. Download the changed program.

BTW: We recommend to use the new pragma ATR instead of the ATR include files.
